Work started in the first week of 2024 with trimming and painting the first of the four O/S half-drop window frames and trial fitting and painting (twice!) of the splash panel and bezel for the tank filler. Next to receive attention was the moulding that fits around the O/S wheelarch. This needed paint stripping then a lot of fettling to get it presentable, it might have been quicker to make a new piece but possibly more difficult. Priming the N/S lower panels last week revealed a few dents and ripples that were attended to with new filler bought for the purpose. This was mostly complete by the end of Saturday 6th but some remained to be sanded before priming again, hopefully on Monday next week.

Work this week has continued in the cab area. All the aluminium has had a coat of primer. The corroded steel stress panel has been copied and the outer side has been primed. All holes have been drilled wth the exception of those for the bracket that supports the indicator switch. All the remaining window uprights have been stripped ready for chrome vinyl wrap to be applied.

In the month since the last entry we have had a long heatwave that prevented me from doing more than a couple of hours work on the odd day when it was cool enough to venture out of the house. However this week has seen a return to more normal temperatures. Work has been concentrated on the cab. The windscreen frame has been dismantled, glass removed and the frame cleaned of dirt and paint then delivered to Chromefix for plating. Most of the cab has now been stripped of paint, the underside of the dash remains to be done and the floor in the seat area. The chrome ventilator for the cab has been assembled and is ready to fit. Side window fittings have also received attention in anticipation of wrapping with chrome vinyl and assembly into the window frames.
