Stripped the paint from both sides of the fairing ready for priming The steel support bracket from the bulkhead to the fairing was also stripped and painted and just needs a topcoat in DG red before fitting. Next I primed the inside face of the entrance/wing fairing. When that was dry, I undercoated it. Final job was to apply a second coat of topcoat on front bulkhead.
Undercoat applied to the window in the rearward entrance bulkhead and a second coat to the two windows in the front bulkhead. I welded up the cracks in the shaped aluminium fairing panel that fits behind the nearside front wheel. I reinforced behind the cracks with some small pieces of beading to minimise the risk of it failing again.
Yesterday I fitted the small window to the rearward entrance bulkhead. Once installed I was able to finish sanding the weld line in the bottom right-hand corner and apply and sand a coat of surfacing filler, although it really didn’t need much. Final job was to prime it.
