I started the week by grinding flat the welds on the O/S front brake back plate, then painting the remaining original part with No.1 rust beater and the new part with red oxide.   I then painted the whole thing with a coat of silver Hammerite.  In between I started to cut the left-hand thread on the first of the two new rear brake rods.
