8/2/2026

Off sick the previous ten days, but a good start to the week by finishing bolting in the main servo and screwing in the rear brake rod.  Pipework was next next, tricky to fit.  The connections on the pipe to the reservoir was fitted.  After that, the handbrake bracket was reattached and the pedal rod  screwed into the servo.  The final job of the week was to fill the servo with vegetable oil, as recommended by Clayton, and replace the top cover.  This completed the work for this week.  I am waiting now for the washers to complete the reinstallation of the brake rods and adjustment of the rear brakes.

Made a good start this week, preparing all the bolts for refitting the rear brake servo and positioning the servo with the chassis bracket loosely attached, ready for final installation.  there was not room to get the nut and Thackeray washer on the forward mounting bracket securing bolt with the servo attached, so I had to prise it back a little to give me room to fasten the bracket to the chassis cross member.  However, this took much longer to achieve than it sounds, due to having to do it from underneath the bus.  This proved unsuccessful as it was then impossible to move the servo back into the correct position, so I had to release the bracket from the bulkhead in order to lever it forward to line up the hole for the servo bolt.  I machined the fixing nut to size for the bracket’s lower mounting bolt but had to stop at that point due to feeling unwell.  Illness then prevented further work this week.

28/12/2025 and year summary for 2025

Effectively the last post of the year.  Started the week by cleaning the advert panel and seeking Rebecca’s opinion on the way to proceed.  I also painted the lower pipe connection for the rear  brake servo with several coats of silver.  Attention turned then to the chassis where the servo is mounted; the primer having cured for a few days, I able to apply two coats of silver paint.  This job is now complete and ready for the servo to be reinstalled, the first job of the new year.

As this is the last entry of the year, a summary of work completed in the last twelve months is appropriate.

The wheels were painted in black.

The horizontal beading was fixed to the offside and the emergency door.  Also the beading around the O/S front wheelarch and other small pieces of beading.

A new front mudwing was made for me by Geoff Brown, in several pieces, welded together by me, painted and fitted to the bus.

The cab door sliding window was completed, partially painted and installed.

Two battery boxes were made and installed, along with refurbished battery cables and an isolator switch.

The electrical control box in the cab was refurbished and connected up to the new wiring.

The rear brakes were were attended to and the large servo removed and refurbished.
