Spent some time tidying the shed in the area where I’ve been working on the steps.  Before they can be finished, I need to reattach the cladding where the handrails fit so I can see  how the lino and nosings need to fit.  This means I need to finish the front bulkhead repair so I have been finishing the filler off and removing paint from around the small front bulkhead window with a view to painting it all in one go with red oxide.  If I can get the rubber glazing gasket away from the metal with string and mask it properly, I may spray the whole of the bulk head.

Also today I fitted the wood finisher for the bottom step, filled the screws and the then cut ends then painted it black.  Second coat probably tomorrow late morning.

The last three days have been concerned with assembling and fitting the entrance steps, a job which is largely complete.   I also cut the wooden finisher for the lower step from an undamaged section of the ash guard rail from the nearside. Tasks that remain are painting the sheet metalwork, fitting and painting the lino, fitting and painting the wooden lower step finisher and finally the nosings.   The view below shows the wooden steps fitted, awaiting the riser panel.
