Works today was limited but involved removal of the beading around the front bulkhead window, partially achieved and removal of the brass screws holding the left-hand side of the window frame to the woodwork.  Hopefully the window will be out tomorrow and I can deal with the steelwork.

Work has been concentrated around the entrance steps and front bulkhead recently.  I decided that the rot in the steel front bulkhead was unacceptable so today I cut out a section adjacent to the door pillar, about 4″ wide with a view to welding in a new section.  A section along the top of the bulkhead is also in poor condition and needs to be cut out and replaced which will mean removal of the window above it.   This is not necessarily a bad thing as there are some small holes due to corrosion in the window frame.  The challenge for welding will be avoiding setting fire to the wooden frame behind the bulkhead.  This is bolted through the bulkhead in several places using what looks like coach bolts and square nuts.

Most of today was taken up with the MW, a little trip around the block with Colin and Sue Hodgin and Mr. B.   I did find time to make up the plate needed for the wooden rail in front of the door, under the canopy.  It will need trimming once fitted but I etch primed it to protect the metal where the galvanising was scored.
